Our Family

So it started with John and Carolyn, then they added Michele, David, Richard, Andrew and Diana. They in turn added Stewart, Karen, Amy and Meredith. Now there are 14 grandchildren. It may get slightly crazy when we are all together, but that is half the fun. Never a dull moment with the DeLaMare clan. There's always laughter though, and lots of teasing, but under it all we are one big happy family!

We can't wait to see you all! YEEEEHA! Also, I've been attempting to update our family blog. Still behind a bit, but it's getting more current every day... Here's a link to the blogs. Hospital Hill 10K

So on Saturday I ran my first 10k It was 6.34miles. And not only was it 6.34 miles it was 6.34 miles of HILLS!!!! It was so much harder than I thought. My goal was to finish it in under an hour and my finish time was 59:38. I reached my goal, but it was a struggle from mile 4 on.
I started too fast and was beat after the first 4 miles. I'm a solid 9.5-10 minute mile runner, but i did my first mile in 8:20 and first 2 miles in 17 min. Then we finished 4 miles in 36 min. So the last couple miles were pretty hard!!
I ran with my friend Michelle, and she literally talked me through the entire last mile! She's been an endurance athlete her entire life, so she did great! I plan on running it again next year and hopefully enjoying it more.
I plan on doing a 1/2 marathon in October, one without so many hills! But overall I'm pleased that I finished and in the time I wanted.
Andrew and the kids were waiting for me at the end! I just wanted to share with you! Love you all, hope everyone is good!

Aww, Thanks!

Meredith you are so sweet. Thank you. How did you know that I always wanted an ode to me? And here I thought I was going to have to write it myself. But now my life is a little more complete. I had a lot of fun with the kids and they were honestly really good. But I will say being a mom is hard work even if it is a pretend part-time one. My hat is off to all you mothers for all that you do on a daily basis.

In other news I have been officially accepted to Missouri State University for the Fall, studying accounting. Who knows, maybe this degree will stick this time. I was also awarded an out-of-state tution fee waiver which is about $5000 savings. Which is a blessing so I don't have to take out quite as much loans. Believe me no is shaking their head as much as me that I have decided to become an accountant. Especially since I always hated math but when I started to do it I realized I was actually kind of good at it. It makes my OCD detail-orientated brain happy to have everything balanced and in its place.

My ode to Diana!

So there's NO way I could have taken a little trip to help out a friend if it weren't for family! And I mean Diana. I should give props to Ben though because he took time out of his busy schedule (heehee) to take me to the airport! And for those of you who wondered or had doubts, we had a lovely conversation that Ben participated in. It was fun to talk to him. Really!
But to my dear dear dear (is that enough? maybe one more) dear Diana. In case you all forgot because she has been hiding out on the East coast, she is AWESOME! Yes I did mean to capitalize all of those letters. Anything less just wouldn't do justice. Diana stepped up and played mom for 3 and 1/2 days. She got Parker to and from school, Bailey to and from the sitters, and she made dinner for my family. And if that wasn't enough. Today both kids basically had meltdowns, Bailey was up most of last night (Andrew took care of that) so she was exhausted and they thought it best she stay home. Then Parker woke up with a fever! So he didn't go to school either! I mean it's one thing to stay all day with 2 kids it's another to stay with a sick kid and a ridiculously tired and crabby 2 year old. But she did it and did it well, the house looked better than it does when I stay home with sick kids! She was amazing, and I am so grateful for her willingness to help us out. THANK YOU DIANA!!!
I went to Alabama to spend time with a friend who needed help with her 17 month old and her new baby that has downs syndrome. She has no family around and not a lot of support. And here I have all this family support that allowed me to go! I am so grateful to be a part of this wonderful family. You have all loved and supported us in so many ways, I feel so blessed. I love you all so much.
Thank you for all you do!!!!!
PS After Andrew read this we were talking about it, and I failed to mention that this one the busiest weeks at work that Andrew has had since he started. His exact words were "She saved me." He was speaking of Diana of course. Just thought I'd add that little tidbit. Andrew couldn't have done it without you! Isn't that nice to know?

Perspective

This is worth watching. I've followed Stephanie's blog for a while now, and she is such an inspiration.

I don't know her personally, but have a couple friends who do. What a woman!

Thanks everyone for your love and prayers. Rich went back to work yesterday. His back and cracked rib are giving him the worst pain at the moment. He told me he has to stand up every couple minutes to stretch his back, but that aggravates his rib. He just can't win. We sure love you! And hope all you wonderful women have a fantastic Mother's Day.
All my love,
Amy

it's a bird, it's a plane, it's...

not superman.

So, Friday we took off to Knolls (which is in the middle of nowhere) for a little fun. Unfortunately, it was short lived. Rich was having the time of his life on his motorcycle, and it ended when he came over the crest of a sand dune going too fast. His front wheel sunk and he went flying over his bike, and then the bike rolled over him. His back was hurt and entire torso is bruised up badly. The worse part was his shoulder that was dislocated and his clavicle that was munched.

It's been an intense couple of days, but we feel abundantly blessed that he came out of it as well as he did, and consider it a miracle that the kids and I were able to load up the trailer and get him home so quickly and smoothly. The Lord is aware of us. We have felt the spirit so strongly as we've gone through this experience... and it's not over yet. Tomorrow we'll schedule Rich for surgery. He's currently in bed, still rubbing sand out of his eyes and waiting out the day. Last night our Home Teacher and Stake President (who happens to be our next door neighbor) gave Rich a powerful and tender blessing. We feel comforted and taken care of. I'll post more as things progress. Please keep him in your prayers. We love you!
